Have a old Craftsman snowblower and need to know what electric start will fit it. Bought used, sales slip in book dated 1990, 23" 5 HP trac drive dual stage, says electric start ready. Engine model number is 143.794053. Says electric start kit is 143.88933 which is no longer available. Is there an electric start I can have put on if so what will fit. Small engine shop told me up to me to find something that fits since kit number no longer available. Thanks for any help.

Have looked on ebay and elsewhere and when tell engine number responses are that is old not sure if any will fit except that specific one. No one can tell me if ones with newer number will fit my snowblower as have been told has to be specific to the engine which is too old???

What is the engine make/model number (not the snow blower). Tecumseh HS50-67291H, perhaps?

143.794053 is the Sears/Craftsman p/n for the engine, and it would likely have "143.794053" on the engine cover via a decal or stamped on the flywheel cover.

@tabora is correct that the part number for the electric starter is 33290. The last digit is the "revision" where 33290B is newer than 33290A, and 33290C is newerthan 33290B, and so on.

I have a 33290E for sale with the mounting hardware if anyone is interested.

Have you owned this a long time, or is this a new used purchase? Are you experienced with this snowblower? Just want an easier way to start? Or are you trying to get it to run and all? Experts here can help. How much snow, and how much area do you clear?.

Welcome to SBF, coug. Your Sears model number 143.794053 was made by Tecumseh and their model number is HS50-67291H. Use this number when ordering engine parts. As stated, 33290 is the correct Tecumseh starter number.

So this must be newer model since it ends with E so should work, how much do you want for it?
