Repair Manual for Briggs & Stratton 250000 Horizontal Series Engine?

This is really just a Briggs & Stratton engine questions, but posting here only because it's on an Ariens Hydro Pro Rapidtrak 28. I'm looking for the repair manual for the 250000 horizontal shaft engine and not having any luck.

I need the torque specs for the engine bolts specifically for the 250000 horizontal series engine. B & S provides a "Repair Manual for Single Cylinder OHV Air-Cooled Engines" (276781-8/09) that is touted as covering all their engines other than a select few that are covered in other manuals (which do NOT include the 250000 series either). In section 12, in the back, are a set of tables with all the torque values and clearance specs. There's a separate set of tables for each engine series, where each series is referenced by it's number and whether it's vertical or horizontal shaft.

However, there is nothing at all listed for the 250000 horizontal shaft series.

If you ask B & S, they play dumb and insist that the it's covered in this manual. There's a text of "8/09" on the manual, which I assume means that it was published in August of 2009. So I'm not sure if the 250000 horizontal shaft series came out after that or what.

Does anyone know of a B & S manual that actually covers the 250000 horizontal shaft series engine?

Wow, B&S blew you off ... interesting.

Might want to swing by a local small engine repair shop.

i only have one that covers the ohv motors . 2200000 and 250000 share specs ,

That's the same manual I have and the 250000 horizontal series is missing. Below is the contents page for section 12 that does NOT list it. The highest number series included for horizontal shaft engines is the 210000 series.

I'll ask my dealer. I've also got an E-mail into Jack's Small Engines, who have provided good information in the past.

Please post it if you find it. I was looking also this eve and only found this with a parts manual, but no service manual.

After talking to B&S again they confirmed that there simply is no repair manual for this engine. So my next question was, where to dealers get the clearances and torque specs?

The answer was that they have a software package that dealers use. They were able to provide me the following via E-mail, which is not complete, but covers the big important stuff that you really want to use a torque wrench on, as well as the most important clearances:

Also, for general pictures and info I think it's possible to use the existing repair manual (276781) and look at engines that are similar.

Along the way, someone pointed me to another forum site that had a bunch of useful manuals. While it did not have what I was looking for, it might be interesting to others. It did seem to have many manuals that I did not find anywhere else. See:

Good news. A dealer that I had reached out to came back with the attached "Advanced Product Service Information" document for this engine. It seems to agree with the numbers quoted in the tables above. It's not as complete as the 276781-8/09 repair manual that doesn't cover this engine, but it's better than anything else I've found.

The fact that Briggs & Stratton was unable to produce their own document does not instill confidence.
