Quick question for the forum....I've used the 212 Predator quite a few time, but never the 301. Is the bolt pattern and crank height the same as the medium frame Tecumsehs? I have a customer wanting to repower a older real JD 1032 with one.

Medium frame Tecumseh, like an HM100? Not the same.

[Taken from http://www.tecumsehcarburetorguide.com/tecumseh-hm100/]

HM100 bolt spacing is 6.375" left to right and 3.125" front to back.

Crank height on the HM100 is 4.13"

If you pull up the owner's manual for the 301 on harbor freight's website, it says on page 22:

7.6"" left to right, 3.7" front to back, with 2 of the holes being slotted so that it could be accommodate a distance of 3.2-3.7" front to back.

Crank height on the 301 is 5.2"

So you're looking at 4 new mounting holes, new belts, and possibly having to fab up a belt cover if the original JD belt cover can't accommodate the extra crank height of the 301.
