Hey everyone. Got me a Murray 1696028 900 Snow Series 27-Inch 205cc Briggs & Stratton Gas Powered Two Stage Snow Thrower With Electric Start.

Two sets of blades but only the left one is moving with any power. Right one just spins free.

Hoping for an easy fix. I'll hang up and listen.

Yes indeed. Now, to find the replacement part(s). That'll be the trick.
Check out E bay, buy a package deal.
Then you have spares as you will eventually need them.

I used my blower for over 15 years before I needed one.
And it went right after I stated that I never replaced any yet.

Having never replaced shear bolts on this machine, I took off the unbroken one so I could have it with me at the hardware store. So this is what the manufacturer had on the left side auger as a shear bolt. This does not look like a shear bolt.

It is a shear bolt, no shear tension markings on the head, Murray, also used in Craftsman, and some others. Has a bushing that fits in as large hole. The nut has rectangular indentations that act as a torque nut preventing the nut from loosening.
