Ronin's Yanmar

The condensed history and ongoing saga of my junk is here.

In the beginning, there was a couple of problems with winter life at the Hill.

Here is Mrs. and the big cat pretending to shovel out after I'd already, you know... shoveled out. Her fresh tire tracks/toasty warm ride evidence exhibits #1&2. 🇧🇸 :D

Next exhibit: lookit them piles, all hand stacked. Yowza.

Now get out all yer fingers and toes and multiply those by the 100 yards between that cozy little scene and the road that the town clears...

The final problem was that the neighbor was trying to hack away at the uphill long run with his farm tractor, no chains, and an extremely long plow mount that often resulted in his front wheels waving 'goodbye' to Sir Isaac and him having a hand half extended to the Reaper.

Now I dunno if all that convinced you, :icon_whistling: but it did convince Mrs. and I was given the Green Light to pull the trigger on a better solution. :D

Yeah it was up for a week with no action then that other guy came along right at the last minute.

My fault though for not paying attention... Laptop's half buried right now or I woulda had it up in the galley whilst cooking.

Ah well, we live to fight another day. Arrrrr...
About the chute and spout lights; Pronovost and others have them mounted in metal 12 volt incandescent light housings And I am unsure if they use a hex head or carriage bolt for the chute and a probably a nylock nut for the bulb base.

An LED light bar would have no issues with the impact vibration of snow being ejected from the impeller though and you could put a small single row light bar on it.

You would definitely want to use amber snow goggles because you will be snow blind-been there done that in daylight and pitch dark with the snow blower on the JD LA115.
I do have a chute light for it, but haven't gotten the 'roundtuit' to install yet.

I usually wear my amber-tinted driving glasses when I'm blowing at night, otherwise my dark sunglasses. It does get bright.
Have to admit, that is a heck of a machine. If a guy lives where there is that much snow, it makes a lot of sense. I'm beyond jealous!
Thanks. Got ripped-off this year, she's only been out twice... 20 minutes up the hill in Hakuba they've had over 16 feet so far this season. With the mountains ya just never know...

Only February, might still get lucky. :hope:

I can't empathize enough that you're not really using it as much as you should. How about you get a nice Honda and crate that one up and sell it to me ??

.
:giggle:Well you don't have to have mine, do you?

There's more to be had, just say the word... and send $$.
So cool to see that monster blower Ronin!

This week a Yanmar YSR 1650DX came out for sale in Norway. Is it anything like your machine?

Late reply, but I suppose it's a later brother... the simplified track mechanism and font tell the tale. Certainly a very capable machine.

Did you end up getting it?

Pretty sure he added a Yamaha to his fleet.

Had the pleasure of seeing "The Fixer" machine recently. What a beast of a machine. He got the new tracks from Japan and installed a motor for the chute control . Put in new impeller with flaps and a heck of a lot more.

just waiting for snow now. sorry no pictures.
