Bought a Craftsman 5 HP 24 inch cut. Tracks like a tank. The engine sticker is missing. How do I find the model no?

First thing I would try is a tecumseh website and search that for identification help - or Google 24" craftsman models in the images and try to narrow it down as which engines were available for similar models ? It might get you started on the right path - good luck !

Welcome to SBF, maggiesdad. Are you sure it is a Tecumseh? If an older model, the numbers will be stamped on top of the recoil shroud, just in back of the spark plug and will be hidden by the electric start button, if equipped with one.

as Grunt said, the Tecumseh will have a stamping like this. HS50 is a 5hp engine. There is also sometimes a sticker on the side of the engine shroud.

Put up pix of the machine and close up pix of the engine. Most likely someone had the same machine or knows the engine

Curious, what do you want the engine number for?

Or do you want to know the model of the Craftsman unit itself?

Are you looking for a part?
