Used Lawnboy good

About to purchase a used one. Model# 10272. Are they generally reliable? Is $175 a good price for a used one owner model with extra bag? It starts on first pull each time I tried it 4 separate times. Seems to run flawlessly and cut just as good. I’ve never owned a Lawn-Boy but used the 2 stroke models back in the 80’s😎 during my landscaping days of work. I refuse to buy a new junk mower.

I would not spend that knd of money on a used older mower ...

I would probably look at a new Toro ... ?

I still run a 30 year old high wheel Murray.
I've flipped several Lawn Boy mowers and that's one is on the high side, IMHO.

Silver series = steel deck and it's not even self-propelled

For that kind of money, you can buy a fancier aluminum deck Toro.

That one does have the bagging system which is rare.

lots of free lawnmowers out there if you are mechanocal if you keep your eyes open
The price is too high for that model. In my area I have seen toro super recyclers with the aluminum deck and the Honda motor for $160.00. lawn boys are made by Toro
My opinion? If it's not a 2 stroke, there is certainly no reason to buy it at any price. $175 is too much for any 18 year old mower.

Thanks guys! I offered $100 he refused!
Yeah too much. If it was a gold series 2-stroke, aluminum deck Self propelled it “might” be worth near that.

I’m a recent toro “personal pace” convert, but I still say those staggered wheel lawn boys are the best mowing decks; you can get (cut) super close to obstacles. Often so much so you can skip the weedwacker.

Here's my Gold Series 10515 that I drove 45 mins each way to pick up. It needed a new coil, and I had to buy the bagging system parts separately. It cuts well.

I purposely did not look for a self propelled as I have no need for that. And just another item to service and fix. I have way to many 2-stroke equipment- toys, and I’m at the point in my life where having one can of gas, for everything is golden. Fogging all the carbs in winter is time consuming especially on the outboard.
Going 4 cycle just personal preference!
if your going to pay nearly $200 look for something nicer than that. i have even found the Ariens mower seem to be made of some pretty decent metal or at least i haven't seem one with a rotted out deck yet. avoid one with self propel because they can be expensive to repair. they also usually have pretty decent OHV engines with the auto choke system so you just hold the handle down and pull. if the machine has a flat head i personally wouldn't touch it unless it was cheap like $50. there is nothing wrong with them but generally you can get a fairly new and decent used mower for $100-150.

I picked up a similar one about 15 years ago, 10545 I think. Same everything plus electric start.
Not to send you away from all the awesomeness here at SBF, but I know a large majority of posts at MyTractorForums > walk behind mowers forum, are Lawn-Boy related.
Walk Behind Mowers
At least it used to be. A quick glance looks like it still is.
To update this, guy reached out to me last week as said if I could do $75 I can have it. He was moving and didn’t want to leave it. I decided to snag it up, runs great cuts great, for 75 bucks it will be the last one I’ll need. It may get 15 hours max a season.
