I was wondering if someone could summarize the modifications required to adapt a Predator engine for snow blower (winter) use.

I think I need to re-power my Ariens this summer (if it comes), my H70 is a little anemic.

You will get some good ideas from those who have set it up for winter use. There are two concerns. First is snow and ice getting into the carb linkage, etc. Second is adjusting the fuel to air ratio for below 40 deg. F. use. As received the stock Predators will run. Some guys merely add choke to reduce air to the motor. Or, they drill out a jet. However, the world of innovative machinist produces a low cost adjustable high speed needle. Best yet this Predator adjustable high speed needle can be purchased off ebay for $9. It comes with a replacement jet (bigger) and the screw adjustable spring loaded high speed needle. The adjustable high speed needle mimics pre 2002 carbs which all came with an adjustable high speed needle. Just search ebay for the "predator adjustable high speed needle." He also makes an adapter to extend or re-locate the oil drain so you don't dump oil all over when changing oil.

Here is a link to the very ingenious adjustable jet on ebay.
