I believe that knob screws on ....... If it was me, I would get the thread size of the rod, or take it with you, and go the the box store and check out the cabinet hardware isle ..... I am sure you will find an appropriate knob.

That part is NLA now. If the engine is black than that white knob would look out of place. Don't really know how paint would hold up on it anyway. Tabora and one ace have the right idea with a cabinet knob. Otherwise you could maybe 3D print one.

Check this one out on eBay. Search item # 194873275997 it looks like the original in your top picture. At least shipping is less and they accept offers.
