If you take the boot off, there's probably an industrial part number on the strut itself. Snap a picture of the label. These struts are used in many applications.

Is your YS1028J a 7VY4 or a 7VY6? The tilt lock assembly is different for each:

7VY6 = 7XE–43610–02 7XE-43610-02-00 - Tilt Lock Assy, Yamaha OEM | Megazip.net

7VY4 = 7XE–43610–01 7XE-43610-01-00 Yamaha Tilt lock assy 7XE436100100, New Genuine OEM Part

Tabora, I just looked on one of the sites you sent me with part number you mentioned for tilt lock assy for Yamaha and the price was US $124.87. In northern Newfoundland here i was quoted a price of $480.00 Canadian. I find this price very steep. I recently got laid off so the lower cost price sound much better. Again, i really do not know if my YS1028J is a 7VY4 or7VY6.

The other link for the 7VY4 was much less: CA $87.66 with free shipping.
