Was running rough before it crapped. I bought a new carb on Amazon and replaced. It wouldn't fire up. Thought maybe it was a defective carb, so cleaned up original carb put it on and tried to start with fresh Non-oxidized gas but still wouldn't start. I also replaced the plug. Any suggestions?

If the new carb is adjustable it might need tweaking before it'll run. For example, you'd run the mixture screw all the way in lightly, then back it out about 2 1/2 turns (as a starting point). Also make sure you've got enough idle screw on to crack the throttle plate open a tad when the throttle is "closed".

I believe OP mentioned he already replaced the plug... maybe verify the gap.

This might sound kind of stupid, but it happened to me this year on a snow blower. While trying to start one of my many machines I was pulling and pulling the cord, no start. I then hooked up the started and still, no start. It wasn't until I looked up and thought "damn it has a key" turned the key and the sucker popped right off. Like I said sounds kind of stupid but that's what happens sometimes. Check to see if you have spark and compression, if both are there then use some carb spray in the carburetor and see if it fires, if it does you have eliminated everything else but the fuel delivery.

Have you tried to give it a shot of starting fluid to see if it'll run a bit ? Is so maybe you have a blockage in the tank or the fuel line is coming apart internally and causing low flow. Take the line off at the carb and let it flow into a jar or can. See if you're getting enough flow.

If spark is confirmed and still won't fire with the teaspoon of gas in the plug, then there's a compression issue, prolly a blown head gasket.

This is the test I do when I buy "does not start" blowers.

If it doesn't pass, then I walk away.

I can do head work, but only on curb finds.

The 2014 Ariens Compact 24 LE--My "Orange Lemon". I just spent 230 bucks having the carb repaired last fall and used it in December--fired right up! Haven't had significant snow until today (March 5th) the wet, heart attack snow of late winter and, at age 64, I really needed my Orange Lemon to do the job. Of course it failed! I drained the carb bowl and checked the Plug--primed it 3 times and it fired up---for one pass on the drive way then it crapped and it crapped hard. I have hardly used this machine in the 10 years since I bought it (the snowstorms of my youth have come fewer and far between it seems) and I simply hate this POS!!. I hate the discharge chute set up handle (I have seen the new model and it has since been redesigned). I hate Snowblowers Direct for claiming this was a "Best Buy." I hate all the maintenance I have done: lubing it, babying it and getting it ready for winter.
I hate, hate, hate this snowblower.
