What is a good quality alternative to Ariens' proprietary L3 lubricant for use in auger gear box which is not as over-priced as L3 is? This is for an Ariens snowblower model 921030, Deluxe 28, bought in March 2015?

I have been using Gear Lube 75W-140 ...... If you find a gear oil weeping past the seals, use the "00" grease, more viscous than the gear oil, but will still pour flow with a squeeze of the quart bottle.
I don't know why I first got the idea that I should use 75W90 grade, but luckily haven't bought it yet. Just wanted to make sure I get the right grade gear box oil. Arien's proprietary brand - L3 lubricant is so over-priced. Thanks for your advice; I am going to get this 75W-140 as you suggested.
The Ariens L3 gearbox lubricant is very thin and leaked from the gearbox impeller shaft seal on my 2015 Platinum. Ariens dealer replaced the seal under warranty and I changed all the seals again later after leaking. Drained the L3 and used Motorcraft Synthetic 75W-140 differential oil which is a little thicker. No problems since, and the gearbox does not get hot enough to worry about yellow metal problems. The gears are both steel anyway.
