So I have a 3 year and 1 month old Platinum 24 (921028), I added the 1 month as the warranty is good for 3 years on the engine so it's just past and I've already contacted Ariens who at least responded but weren't very helpful. Electric starter spins and doesn't appear to engage the flywheel to spin it over. I took it off and cleaned up the bendix thinking maybe they used an improper grease or too much causing it to stick and relubed with graphite. Bench testing it worked perfectly. Bolted it back on the snowblower and tested before reassembling everything (stupid design to access starter bolts but thats another story).
After everything was back together, back to square one. I tried a different cord (14ga. 10 ft. cord USA made) since I was using a cheaper cord previously which seemed to work initially but fast forward a couple days later and same thing. I would just buy another one but it seems to be sold out/out of stock everywhere which leads me to believe this isn't an isolated issue. By the way, thanks Ariens for wanting to charge an $80 premium on top to have your part no. for the starter.
So venting aside, what else can go wrong with a starter to cause this issue?
