My connecting rod finally went on me. Many people have told me this is a common issue among these Tecumseh engines. Does anybody know of an engine that will fit my snowblower so I can repower it as opposed to buying a whole new snowblower? I see some people mention predator engines throughout the forum, but nobody states for sure whether they will fit my snowblower model. Does anybody have any idea of an engine that would work? Even one that requires some modification to my snowblower I'm willing to get, just want to make sure I can get it to power my snow throwing friend again.

Should be easy to find a used engine, and an easy swap...Any 8-10 hp and likely be a 3/4 crank 2-1/4? Long w/threaded hole. Take engine pulley off to verify, and then start looking.

Good information and lot's of reading in the Repower subforum.

This site specializes in replacement engines. This page starts with the LH318SA engine.

Are you certain that the engine can't be rebuilt? Donyboy73 has several videos on rebuilding blown Tecumseh snow engines. One has three parts where he repaired a hole in the side of the case where the rod knocked out a piece of the case.

On the one below, he replaces a broken rod on a 8 hp.

I have a HMSK80 8HP flathead with OEM adjustable carb sitting here in central NJ that's close to getting tossed in the dumpster.....
As far as I know there's nothing wrong with it other than it's a Tecumseh and too small for my uses.
