Hi to all and Happy New Year,
Just got a brand new Ariens Platinum RapidTrak 28 SHO. I was excited about the power, capacity, and the different track modes, as I have a long and moderately steep driveway. I have encountered some issues with the track angle adjuster.
The problem I'm experiencing is that the height adjuster lock pin is not engaging fully and at times is difficult to disengage. When changing modes from "wheel" to "track" to "digger", squeezing the height adjuster handle should disengage the lock pin from the height adjuster bar which allows for the mode change to occur, ie., when the main body is tilted for "wheel", leveled for "track", or slightly lifted for "digger" modes. The height adjuster bar moves to the corresponding notch and then the spring-tension lock pin should snap into the notch to lock it. Well not so easy. More often than not, the lock pin just moves half-way and does not engage. I then have to bounce the machine to get that pin to engage. This problem is especially present when the front basket is not flat. Sometimes, the lock pin doesn't disengage unless extra force is used in squeezing the adjuster handle and pushing up or down on the handle bars, especially with "digger" mode.
Hardware is without visible damage and spring is in place. Adjusting the cable doesn't help. Bolts are tight. Of note, if I keep pushing down on the height adjuster bar (that black bar that connects to the height adjuster plate and lock pin assembly to the rear axle) and have someone else go through changing the modes while on a flat surface in the garage, it seems to fix the problem, but can't be doing that when in use!
I am posting this to see if anyone has similar experiences and whether this is a common problem for Ariens RapidTrack models or something particular to my unit that needs to get fixed, and if any sugggestions.
Thanks!
