Hi there,

My name is Stewart, I live in Canada. I spend a lot of time fixing cars and am now starting to work on an old snow blower I was gifted.

I'm struggling to find the owners manual for a Sears Canada Model 71-52108-1. It's a craftsman 8/24. The electric start doesn't work and it runs rough. Looking to get some parts ordered to give it some love and get it fixed up before winter.

I called Sears parts direct but they said they don't offer parts or manuals for Canadian models.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Welcome to SBF stew. Here is a link to the Canadian Sears parts site. I couldn't find any model numbers that start with 71, but most snow blower model numbers start with 950.

This model is close to the one you have-

It looks like you have an 8 hp Tecumseh motor and this is the service manual for it. Your engine model number is stamped into the recoil shroud and will be under the electric start button. You will need that number when looking for parts.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

welcome. what part of Canada are you from?

i personally wouldn't put much money into the machine. they are really not that great of a machine. they are pretty much useless unless you do the impeller mod and they are a pain to do the impeller mod to. they also have a smaller impeller than the average machine so they are much slower at getting the snow off the driveway compared to similar sized machines. i know i am planning to finally sell mine off this year as i am tired of it sitting around as my backup and never getting used. i think i will be lucky if i get $100 out of it.

These ancient Craftsmans are all very similar, any manual from a mid 80s Craftsman will supply enough exploded diagrams enough for you to tinker with it.

As for exacts like belts and discs, bring the part to a small engine shop, they will sell you what you need.
