that era of Toro 2 stagers are built like tanks. The metal is like twice the thickness of today's versions.

 

I just bought it for $50 lol
I replaced the fuel line a filter and cleaned the carb....it fires off instantly.
I have a 522 also and love that style of auger .
Not sure about this drive system but I will give it a try

 

the drive is a liitle slow but with an impeller kit it throws really well. The frame is a good candidate for a repower, should the motor go.
