I repowered a Toro Super Recycler 4 SR4 model 20381 with the Chinese 159 txp engine with a honda GCV190 (GCV190LA-SC3-NH1 full model number). Long story short the chinese motor was becoming a hard starter (5-10 pulls cold, yes the choke was at least seemingly working correctly) and of course for a bit more power. Yes I could have troubleshot further (valves, etc) but I chose a 'funner' route.
Anyway for future reference any one else interested in something similar here is what Iearned/what you need:
IMPORTANT NOTE: This applies to a 159cc TXP engine WITHOUT BBC control (Straight shaft 25mm diameter, not tapered shaft)
If using a honda with the "S_3" (SC3 in my case) crankshaft:
-You'll need the Toro 114-2774 blade driver has a 1/4" key vs the 3/16" key in the one used with the 159cc engine.
-Will also need a 3/8-24 1.5" long bolt/washer for the blade. I got one from a hardware store, but Toro part 145-5695. The 159cc engine uses a 7/16-20 1.5" long bolt/washer.
Those are the only other two parts you need. The blade and belt heights are IDENTICAL to the stock engine with these parts, even though if you measure the crankshafts the Honda is about 5/16" (8mm) longer, but the Honda makes this up by sitting the same distance higher in reference to where the motor mounts to the mower deck.
-I bent the Blade/Bail bracket on the Honda, as when the bail was fully engaged it was a bit tight.
If using any other engine, for instance Kawasaki FJ180V-M11
-You want a 25mmX80mm shaft. You may or may not need that Toro 114-2774 blade driver & 3/8-24 1.5" long bolt/washer for the blade, depending on the specifics of your crankshaft.
-May need to fabricate/purchase a choke and/or throttle mechanism depending on your choice.*
*This is why I went with the Honda, it had the autochoke and fixed throttle.
